2011 brought us so much joy! Im so looking forward to this next year!
To recap:
Early in the year I was working with Brandon and Nick was in school. Emily was just moving out of our apartment and to California to be with Austin. They were soon engaged and planning their 2012 wedding. We celebrated Valentines day eating pizza and exchanging gifts, my current craving since I was 6 months pregnant with our daughter. In March, Nick found out he had a hernia and had to quit his job. I was having a hard time at work since being treated badly for being pregnant and knowing I was leaving soon. It was a bit stressful at the time but in hindsight easy to make it through. In April, Seth came to stay with us for a week and we had a great time with him. We visited California to be with my sister and her boys, Matt & Lorin, and my parents for Easter. I was HUGE and pregnant and uncomfortable and all of those gripes with late pregnancy. May brought the very anxious and not very patient wait for labor to begin and to bring our still nameless baby into this world. We spent lots of time at the dog park with Tasha, and constantly walking before the awful Phoenix heat was there. On Saturday, May 28th, at 9:20 am I started labor. It was the BEST day of my life. It was peaceful and beautiful and the best birth I could have asked for. At 11:39pm of that day Scarlett Victoria Ann was born a healthy little girl at 8lbs 10 oz. She changed our world and parenthood began. June was spent nursing and sleeping and taking a zillion pictures of our tiny miracle. It honestly went by in a flash. My parents were there and Kelsey, Zack, and Seth came to visit at the end of the month. The Grays also came to visit and met their granddaughter for the first time. In July, we were preparing for the move to New York and Nicks graduation. He graduated July 29th and we left Arizona later that day. I went to Wichita, and then to Nebraska with Scarlett. We finally arrived in New York and lived with Beth and Peter for a few months. It was wonderful being so close to family. Scarlett was growing but a few troubles with the car seat and night time routines. Nick was offered 3 jobs and finally took the job of head mechanic at Waste Connection. In September, I went to California and was a part of Katie Hurleys (now West's) beautiful wedding and spent time with my sister. Matt proposed to Lorin and Im gaining a sister! October was our third wedding anniversary and we happily had our first night out since having the baby. After much searching, finally in November we moved to Summit in what we thought was going to be an awesome (even though its brought only headaches) house. My mom had a knee replacement surgery and Lorin and Matt moved to New York. In December, Scarlett turned 6 months old and I started teaching fitness classes in Cobleskill at Studio Fab. We had an early Christmas in Wichita with my family and then came home to be with Nick for Christmas Eve. We rang in the new year with Grays and I kissed my husband for the 5th time at midnight.
Nick and my anniversary of meeting and dating is on New Years day which is also his birthday. We spent the day with family, watched a horrible dog fight (bad Tasha and Jake, glad it ended okay and Peter was there to break it up) and had chinese take out and a movie. That night I said to him, can you believe its been 4 years. And he said "Yeah... Wow.... (long pause) Jana, Im in love with you" held me a little tighter and we went to sleep. It was a really nice moment :-)
Im praying 2012 brings us lots of time to watch Scarlett grow, lots of love and growth in our marriage, learning new things, success in our jobs, and spending as much time with our loved ones as we can. We are blessed with so much!
I am also praying for some oppurtunities to find a place where Scarlett and I can volunteer during the day, learning how to grow my small business venture, and finding a great church that fits our family. I will continue to take good care of the body I was blessed with and encouraging others to do the same.
Happy New Year!
