Time is going by TOO DARN FAST!

I have to say that Scarlett seems to growing up faster and faster lately. She is making such huge leaps in her cognitive development that it makes her seem so much more like a little kid and less like a baby (which I understand is normal and is supposed to happen this way lol) It just seems to be happening so quickly.

Lets catch you up:
-She is walking. 100% all the time and has been for about a year. She is no longer "toddling" or falling very often, and it quite coordinated. She is gaining speed and LOVES to walk as far away from me as possible (far cry from the kid that wouldnt even let me put her down for months)
-She loves to kiss and hug. She will come at you with mouth wide open for a kiss (Reminds me of Seth, my heart melts). And if you ask her for a hug she will be sure to come give you one, unless of course she thinks if she runs the other way that you will chase her... which is very quickly becoming her favorite game.
-If I say "Im gunna get you" or "Come here" she will run around the coffee table waiting for me to play tag. Its cute, but Im guessing it will be less cute when shes a little older, a little faster, and its something more urgent that a poopy diaper. But for now, pretty darn cute.
-She hasnt taken to signs much but has "the point" down pat. She walks around the house like a zombie... with her arms straight out and mumbling something or other. She signs for eat but only after I ask her if she wants to eat (she will run to her chair and shove her fingers in her mouth, close enough, right?) and if she wants to go to sleep she will come over, climb onto my lap, and bang on my chest. Cute.... not really. I nurse her to sleep so that is what she wants and as much as I try to teach her another way of communicating it... it has not worked. SO banging on my chest it is, lol.
-She knows and LOVES her bath. She will run to the stairs at our house, or to the bathroom at Grandmas trying to climb in the tub. Her first "word" besides mama and dad the other day was "Baa, baa, baa" meaning bath.
-She loves blankets, stuffed animals, and real animals. She wants to hug them and lay on them. She attacks all cats and dogs and wants them to lay down so she can completely envelop them with a hug. She always hands me her blankets when I come to get her out of her bed, and she has her "Ellie" in the car to hold on to. The other day she saw a very (non soft) ceramic bear and she hugged it. I thought it was more because it was soft but obviously not.
-She is sleeping through the night, with one wake up usually really early in the morning (between 4 and 5) when I rock her for a minute and put her back to sleep until 7ish. She goes to bed around 730pm and its soooo nice when she does. She is still napping twice on most days but with my new job Im thinking one long nap would be better, so we will see how that goes. Im slowly learning that I dont get to decide things like that when it comes to her, the kid has a mind of her own.
-She is generally happy unless she gets tired. Then its a very fast decline into cranky... and I know its time for nap right away.
-She has really started to become more and more excited about being around Nick. The other day she wanted to go to him and hugged him so tight. It was heartwarming. And, when I took her back so I could put her in the car she screamed until I put her back in her arms. It was the first time and Nick and I loved it.... BUT, when I really did need to strap her in she was trying to climb out of the car seat so she could see him in the front seat. He had to literally poke his head over her seat (since she is still rear facing) so she would calm down and be strapped in.
-She is 19lbs so slowly but surely growing. Good girl!
-She has become picky while eating and does like to try things...even when she has had them before. I dont know if she forgot or just "changed" her mind. I tried to give her strawberries today (which she has always loved) but she refused. I try to put some on her lips and then she might eat it. She LOVES hot dogs (goodness) and fruit chews... both of which I hate giving to her too much. But, evidently shes growing so things are fine.
-She loves her cups and drinks a lot of water and some milk. Sometimes she will have more than one cup of milk but not very often. She likes to carry her water cup around the house all day.
-She loves swimming and playing with water. I have a hard time doing the dishes when she is awake because she cries and whines at my legs wanting me to pick her up so she can put her hands under the faucet. She LOVES water.
-She has 5 teeth that are all the way grown in, but three more coming in right now. Then she will have 4 top middle and 4 bottom middle.
-We love to watch Scarlett just do laps around our living room and the coffee table. She is the best!

I suppose that catches you up to speed for now when it comes to Scarlett. Heres what else is happening in life:

-In regards to buying our log cabin.... we got the commitment letter from the lender. We then ordered the appraisal which took FOREVER due to really tragic circumstances for the appraiser but finally it was done. The house was approved based on us needing railings and propane to test the heat. Nick and Peter put in the failings and did a FABULOUS job. We ordered the second appraisal and that is where we stand. Hopefully that will be done this week, the house with be approved and we close in 2 weeks. The wait has been long and painful, but will be worth it because we LOVE this house. Its unique and needs a lot of work, which has always been our dream.

-Total Body Success. I am starting a business. In fact, the business is officially starting in one day. Im ecstatic. It is a complete and personalized weight loss and fitness program. We have spin, TRX, obstacle courses, personal training, group training, nutrition counseling and ACCOUNTABILITY. I have 15 or so spots depending on their schedules and 10 of the spots filled. Its wonderful but I cant believe how successful it has been so far, and it hasnt even started!! Im excited for the change it brings in my schedule, in our bank account, and in the participants lives. Yay!

I think that is it for now. We are doing quite well :-) Life is great! We are so blessed.

A Month in Review

Its been more than a month since I have updated this blog, what a major fail! I love writing about our family and especially Scarlett, and I LOVE sharing it with family and friends that arent around to enjoy her everyday.... but life has been so hectic, so we will just do a review and continue from there.

The Major developments:
  • Buying our house is still a go. We are waiting on the appraisal (still...) and just found out that the appraisers parents passed away in a car accident. I feel bad for ever even complaining about the wait because what a horrible tragedy for her and her family, and it reminds me that waiting is nothing in importance. Praying for that family!
  • I am starting a business. I am going from an independent contractor at the studio to fully running a business and the entire fitness program. It is a big change and a lot to take on but I feel like now is the time and I will be a success!
  • Scarlett is WALKING!!! She is walking all the time, everywhere. She loves to explore and went from a very clingy little baby to a VERY independent toddler. Funny how as soon as we figure something out about her... she changes once again.

The minor details :-)
  • Nicks job is going okay and we are saving like crazy for the house. We stopped buying groceries lol that seems to be our one major sacrifice
  • Scarlett started eating with a spoon. She loves it so much that when whatever she is eating is done and I take it away she starts screaming! She makes a huge mess but its so cute I cant say I even mind cleaning it up.
  • When I ask her "Wheres Daddy?" "Wheres Mommy?" "Wheres Tasha?" and so on, she will put her hands face up like she is shrugging her shoulders and the find the person (or dog lol) and point to them. Its adooorrable!
  • She loves to be chased around. I said "Im going to get you" and she squeals and runs (or crawls) away. She loves playing it with Daddy too.
  • We went on our first boat ride since she was born and had a GREAT time. She hated the life jacket but loved swimming with me in the lake. I thought she might be too cold but she loved it too much to be bothered at all.
  • She has been sleeping really great, only usually waking up around 430am and then going back to bed until 7ish. She is eating really well and I think she has even gained a pound or two... hooray! And she got one more tooth, 5 in all now :-)
  • She loves playing with little things. She would love if I let her play with coins all day (which I obviously dont) but she loves things she can pick up with the pincher grasp. She also loves buttons and has been turning the tv on &off (on and off and on and off and on) until I come over and say NO and try using a distraction... sheesh!

Scarlett continues to be the center of our world and we spend our weekends together as a family or with friends. Life really is great right now :-) Update coming sooner than later next time! Also, PICTURES!

Growing up so fast!

Scarlett is growing up so fast. It really is amazing how quickly it happens. She has a new tooth, it is the one next to her front right tooth on the top. That means she has 5 teeth total. She is moving ALL over the place. Crawling, standing, walking, cruising... she knows what she wants and how to get there. Shes taking about 3-4 steps at a time to get to the couch or to me and shes trying to stand up on her own without using a table or couch... almost there! Our favorite game is hide and seek where mommy hides and she crawls to find me. Tasha almost ALWAYS gives me away! She loves Tasha and cuddles with her, and when she is ready for a nap she will go lay on her dog bed. Its adorable! She likes to mimic everything we do and is constantly eating, we need to get our girl to GROW! She definetly suffers from seperation anxiety with her mom but we have special "daddy time" every night where I go upstairs and she gets to play with Nick. Its so cute to listen to her laugh because he plays so differently from me and she LOVES it! She loves being with him! We started saying a family prayer before bed and its really a special time for all of us. She loves to cuddle and relax as much as she loves water play, balloons, bubbles and being flipped around by mom (yes, I am training her to be a gymnast HAHA!)

Shes such a sweet, sweet girl. Some days are a little lonely and long, but Im trying to hold on to each precious memory. I thank God for her because she is my everything!

Incresingly harder to get good pictures :-)

Our new sunglasses... cutie!!

A mini-bride :-)

I know, I know.... I dressed up Scarlett for Emily and Austins wedding this past weekend to match John because they were just too cute and they looked like a mini bride and groom. He even very sweetly hugged and kissed her, which she didnt really like. LOL! It was adorable, even if it was a totally weird thing to do :-)

Emily and Austin were married June 8th at 5:30pm at The Olde Tater Barn in Schoharie, NY!

Congratulations to the happy couple, and I cant wait to watch their family grow.

Emily is Nicks little sister and Austin was Nicks best friend after he came home from his deployment. For a while there it was the three of us... Nick, Jana... and Austin. They had a joke about Austin marrying Emily (even before he met her) so that the men could be brothers and best friends for life. When Emily came to visit on my 23rd birthday Austin was there and it was an instant connection. Now, they are married and their life begins.

Junes sister Crystal said she would babysit the babies so during the ceremony she drove around with Scarlett so she could take a small nap. There was just no way she could sit at the ceremony with both Nick and I in the wedding and not want to be held and cause a disruption... So, she stayed in the car. It worked out for everyone! She was there for pictures, which were beautiful, and then after dinner I brought her home and put her to sleep and went back to relax and dance with my friends and family. Here are some pictures, and many more to follow!

...played with a box...

...ate a snack...

...and played in the sunshine :-)

One year milestones

I wanted to just write about where Scarlett is at on her first birthday.

This past month she started crawling (can I say... FINALLY!) Once she learned she was on the move every second she could. Even while I try to change her diaper she wont stop. She has found every corner, crevice, and spec of dirt in our apartment. I have dug about a million tiny pieces of something that she gets ahold of. I vaccum everyday and I STILL cant believe the things she finds. She is also standing on her own all the time and the other day while I was Skyping with my parents and stood her up to show them how she can stand and she ended up taking two steps towards me and then balancing enough to keep standing. They were able to see her first steps!! It was quite an amazing moment. Since then she has found that when I stand her up in front of me if she dives forward that I will catch her and she thinks that is WAY more amusing.

She is eating well and still breastfeeding. She knows what the word "milk" means and will look to nurse if I say it. She does well in the car and sleeps through the night, unless its too hot like it has been lately. She sticks her tongue out and spits and makes an elephant noise that cracks her up. When he wakes up in the morning or a nap she loves to cuddle with me for about 5 minutes, and I love it! She hugs me so tightly :-) She knows when I ask her for a kiss and comes at me open mouthed. She loves being with her grandma but is still slow to warm up to strangers. She loves to mimic us, especially if do something weird with our mouth (stick our tongue out, or do a popping noise with our lips).

She loves to climb on the mats at my work and sits and bounces on the trampoline. She will sit quietly and then look over and burst into conversation babbling like something just came to her that she needs to make sure we know. She loves to clap her hands and does it when she gets excited. She loves Tasha, and any other dogs, and were trying to quickly teach her to be gentle with them.

At her one year appointment yesterday they said she was 29 inches, which is the 50th percentile. She was only 17 lbs and 8 oz though which means she has only gained a quarter of a pound since March and she was in the 3rd percentile. The doctor ran a finger prick test which showed her iron was low and she needed blood work done. We went straight to the hospital lab where they drew blood. The only results we have been given were her iron and it came back in the normal range, but the very bottom of the range. She has been put on a high calorie diet which means more snacks, more dairy (yogurt, cheese, milk) more protein (eggs) and beans/legumes. We cant do nuts because of Nicks allergy but we will do everything else we can. Im hoping she starts to gain weight and gets out of the danger zone, our little girl needs to grow!

Scarlett is one amazing little girl and we feel like she grows more and more each day. She is learning new things constantly and its so incredibly fun to watch her. We are so blessed and so happy she is ours. We love our baby girl!!
