I can just not say enough good things about our trip to Wichita to see my parents, Kelsey, Seth and Zack. We had such a good time and I just think there was no way it could have been better.
We woke up early to catch our flight in Albany at 6 am and I cant believe it but we missed our flight. We left the house a ltitle late but it would have been okay had the weather getting there been better. I was 3 minutes past the time I had to be there to check a bag. I was still 40 minutes early so I begged them to let me still catch the flight but they had to reschedule me (for free) for a later flight. It made our 5 hours of travel into 8 hours and it was exhausting with the baby but we made it safe and sound so I suppose that is all that matters. During our very long lay over in Chicago we curled up in a corner and I layed down my coat, sweat shirt and her blanket and we took a nap. It was actually kind of a sweet little moment to share with my daughter during the chaos.
Once we were in Wichita it was wonderful to see everyone. I had a nice talk with my dad on our way back to their house and we ate good food that night and played games. Scarlett was a gem and did really well with everyone holding her and playing with her. Her extreme fear of all people besides her mother, haha, seems to have calmed down quite a bit. The next day Kelsey and Zack left for Nebraska so we just played with Seth (Lots of Clue, Sorry, and card games) and enjoyed each others company.
When Kelsey and Zack got back we did a little shopping for Christmas and had our family Christmas Tuesday night. It was so fun watching Seth and Scarlett unwrapping their gifts. Scarlett got some wonderful toys, books and clothes. Kelsey gave her some bows which are adorable! She was so excited she started huffing and puffing and squealing and all. We were Skyping with Matt and Lorin which Im not sure if that was good or torture for them but in a way it was kind of like having them there.
We finished our vacation with my grandpa and grandma coming to Wichita with the Rupes and their significant others. We had a nice big dinner and all 15 of us played Apples to Apples. It was so fun to be all together with all the different generations and we laughed and laughed all night.
It was incredible hard to say goodbye. It was especially hard to say goodbye to Grandpa Max. He has been having such a hard time and with no plans to travel in the making you never know how he will be next time I can get to Nebraska. I hate living so far from my family but I do feel so blessed to have such a great family to miss!
Pictures to come!
