We had an excellent move from Arizona to New York. It was about as perfect as a cross country move could get. Our last few days in Phoenix consisted of a lot of packing, a trip from uncle Matt (wishing Lorin could have come as well) Peter, Victor, Matty and Gramps all flying out to drive back and Nick graduating from UTI. He graduated with a bunch of honors including Directors List Award and Honor Roll.... which he didnt happen to mention to me haha but it was a nice surprise to see him with a gold rope around his neck and all his honors by his name. What an awesome man!
Scarlett and I flew to Kansas Friday night and after all that worrying about the flight she slept from when we boarded the plane in Az through the flight to Denver, through the 3 1/2 lay over and through the flight until we landed in Kansas at 2am. Haha it was awesome! All that worrying for nothing... I should have known.
We had an awesome time in Kansas. We left for Nebraska the next mornign and again I was a little nervous for the 5 hour drive since she hates being in the car but she pretty much slept the whole time and hardly had any upsets. We stopped twice on the way up so I could feed her but that was about it. Nebraska was WONDERFUL! We stayed with Grandpa Max and Suzy. They just instantly fell in love with Scarlett and she was smiling and cooing and it was just a great time. We had wonderful fresh food from all of their gardens and sat around visiting and holding the baby.. my kind of weekend :-) Grandma Suzy was a little worried about being able to hold Scarlett but was very comfortable and even held her so this mom could take a little nap. We went out to the farm and Scarlett sat on a baby calf haha. I love that place. It makes me feel so at peace with the world. I cant wait to go back. We took some really nice pictures and it was SO worth the trip.
We stopped in Lex on the way out and saw Grandma Lois. Scarlett slept in her arms after lunch and it was so nice and relaxing. I have such an exceptional family. I wish Grandpa Bill could have been there but it was nice knowing he was looking down on us.
The rest of the days in Wichita were fun. My parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. I feel like Ive learned so much about life and love and marriage from them, I was happy to be there and celebrate. My mom gave Scarlett a bath and Im not sure why but I think it was one of my best memories in my entire life. Scarlett was just smiling and happy and it was perfect. I seriously have the best family in the world.
Saying goodbye was so hard. I was excited to see Nick (and lets be honest, see Tasha haha) and the flight again was so easy. She slept on the planes and had no problems. Beth and Nick were there to greet us when we landed and Nick said his interview had not gone well but I later found out he had actually been offered the job and he was lying haha. So now he will start working for Catepillar soon and we will see where that takes us. Hes only been on 3 interviews in his life and been offered all three jobs... Someone must be looking out for our little family :-)
Life here in Cobleskill is going pretty good. Its a big adjustment for everyone and at first felt like vacation but I think were starting to find our rhythm and routine. Its nice to be outside a lot with Scarlett and I love putting her in the carrier since she started going forward-facing this past week (Oh My Goodness) and we play fetch with Jasper, the retreiver, in the woods. Theres a lot more bugs which Im not used to and we had no internet or tv at first ( I hate admitting that I missed it) but were all hooked up now and its been awesome. We had a camp fire last night and its kind of what life should be about.
I miss my family so much it makes me feel sick to my stomach almost every day but Im trying to adjust being so far. I dont know why I didnt feel so far in Arizona even though no one else lived in the state but its just the way I feel. I know I can not go my entire life this far away but like my mom said she didnt think when her and my dad were starting out 30 years ago they would have ended up in So Cal so you just never know. I hope someday we can build that big house with the Karr wing and make my dreams come true.
Now... PICTURES! Enjoy!
