The last leg of our trip in California was wonderful! Katie Hurleys (Now West's) wedding was beautiful and fun. She wrote us letters describing what she loved about each of her bridesmaids and it was one of the nicest things anyone has ever said about me. It actually felt a little bit like I was reading something written about my mom, which is someone I strive to emmulate. The ceremony was light, and lovely. I walked with Matt Falagrady, so that was such a weird blast from the past. And her reception was super fun with country music, and songs from the 90's (N'Sync, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears). I was driving back and forth a lot because it was the first time I had left Scarlett with anyone. My sister watched her at a nearby hotel and I wouldnt have been able to do it without her. I was so sad to leave my baby. Its weird after you carry them for 9 months inside you and then spend all night and day with her every day for the past 4 months to leave... even if it was only for about an hour before I would have to come back and feed her. Scarlett took to my sister really well and she did.... alright... while I was gone. In the late afternoon she was great and having fun, but once it was bed time and her mom wasnt there... she really lost it. She was in and out of sleep so everytime I would get ready to leave for good Kels would say she was asleep so I was fine, and then she would wake up and scream so I would get ready to leave again and she would fall asleep. Haha... but we both survived. I kept thinking she would be scared with out me in a new place, with new people, and no mom there ... but she did fine and here we are... fully recovered from our time away from each other.
The rest of the vacation was just enjoying my sister, Seth and Zack. I did go to church Sunday morning and enjoyed everyone "Ooh"ing and "Ahh"ing over my little girl. It was nice to see Pastor John (who married us) and tell him how happy we are to be celebrating 3 years together. The flight home was really good. Scarlett slept all the way on the firs 4 hour flight until abot the last half hour in which she woke up and yelled about as loudly as she could until we were off the plane. HAHA it was happy yelling though and very cute, no body seemed to mind. The second flight I had to try to keep her entertained but it was only about an hour long so no big deal. Shes getting more and more "easy" as time goes on.
New things that Scarlett is up to...
-She started grabbing for things. Dinner plates, mirrors, and blankets. I have to start being careful, especially while cooking!
-She noticed her reflection in the mirror, its SOO cute!! She smiles at herself and it melts my heart
-She started chewing... on EVERYTHING! She grabs hands and toys and gets this funny face and bites down as hard as she can. Its very intense looking haha
-She realized she has a voice. She babbles and screeches and squeaks and hollars, it is my favorite of the new things
-Shes doing really well in the carseat. One day she decided she was okay back there, and ever since. Very strange to go from screaming baby to happy or sleeping one. What a relief... whew!
-She found her feet. One morning she woke up and they were in her hands and then her mouth and now they are her new favorite things
Scarlett is so fun and it is amazing to watch her learn and grow. I am the proudest mother in the world. I cant believe she is mine.
Nick and I celebrated 3 years together. He surprised me at the airport and picked us up. Our anniversary was extrememly uneventful with work, and dinner, and bed but sometimes its nice to know youre just happy and in a good place so not much celebration is needed. We are going out tonight to dinner. I am leaving Scarlett with her Gray grandparents and Im excited about spending sometime staring at my beautiful husband. :-)
