Its sad sometimes when you are really looking forward to something and it comes and goes so fast. We had such a great weekend with Kelsey, Zack, and Seth coming to visit... but now Im left feeling sort of empty knowing I wont see them for a couple months. :-(
They drove in on Friday and it was blazing hot outside. That night we made chicken taco's and just sat around talking and went to the pool for a little while. Kelsey loves Scarlett and had already spent time with her after she was first born but now Zack and Seth got to meet her. This is Seths first cousin (Or second if you ask him, he counts the baby we lost as the his "first" cousin... melt my heart) He became more and more interested in her as the days went on. He even held her Sunday morning, and "watched" her for me while I washed her diapers. SO CUTE!
Saturday morning we all slept in, except Nick who woke up at 6:30 to work on his truck before the heat. And we went to lunch at Einsteins Bagels (YUM!). The Nascar race was on that afternoon and it was not Kelsey's favorite thing to watch so they went and got ice cream for us and spent some of the afternoon at the pool. Scarlett and I took a nap and watched bits of the race with Daddy. It was too hot for us outside, I hope I never have to be in 120* weather again... its pretty awful.
Sunday morning we woke up and went to church. It was the first time we had gone since Scarlett was born, and Im so thankful we went. Scarlett wore such a cute little dress and I was excited to have her there with us. The service was incredible. Since it was the day before the Fourth of July, they had a man that was the head of all of the Special Forces for the military in the United States (I forgot his actualy rank). He gave his amazing testimony of the battles he had been a part of and the power of prayer. He reminded us that God watches over the warrior, and what it meant to be a warrior for Christ. It was so powerful! Im so blessed to live in this country and so thankful for the military that protects it. Nick stood and was recognized for his service. I love my man! We watched Lord of the Rings and relaxed all afternoon. Scarlett is such an easy baby and just fits right in with whatever we are doing. Tasha was the happiest dog because my sister brought Chewy (her husky) and the dogs spent all weekend just playing in the living room. Im so glad she got to have a little entertainment... I suffer constantly from dog guilt haha
Sunday night we spent the evening at the pool. I just held Scarlett with my feet in the pool and every so often dipped her feet in to cool her off a little bit. I enjoy the company of my family so much. Kelsey is just my absolute best friend and I love hanging out with her and her little family. Nick bathed with Scarlett for the first time Sunday night and she was kicking and playing in the water and even smiled at us. LOVE!
Monday morning we were all tired and slept in really late... almost noon haha I dont feel sleep deprived at all since having the baby. She's a good sleeper so its very easy for me too sleep when I want. I had to say goodbye to Kelsey, Zack and Seth and it was so sad. Its so much harder to be far from family when you have children because so much life happens in between visits and its hard to miss them grow.
Monday night Nick and I watched the fireworks on tv because I felt it was just too hot for the baby to be outside for an extended amount of time. It was actually a nice time holding hands with my husband, and holding my sleeping baby in my arms. I have so much love for these two people God blessed me with. And then, I couldnt believe it, but Scarlett slept from 10 pm to almost 4 am. 6 HOURS! WOAH!
Today has just been a normal day of Nick going to school and Scarlett and I spending the morning cleaning and being around the house. I danced and sang "Wheels on the Bus" to her for about 40 minutes. Haha she loved it and so I did too.
Here are some pictures to enjoy :-)
